Alan Haarburger and Family, New Jersey, USA

I found Alan Haarburger by searching the 'Yahoo' listings of personal e-mail and home addresses. I sent Alan an E-mail about my family (as seen on the Graham page). Below is the reply that he originally sent to me outlining his families history.

Dear Mr. Mark Graham,

Thank you so much for your letter of November 12th.  My family and I are most
delighted to hear from someone with the 'Haarburger" family name.  I also had
the opportunity to speak with my father who has provided the following
details of my family's history:

My Great Granfather's name was Siegmund Haarburger, Born in Posen (now
Poland) about 1847, died in Berlin in 1909.  His wife, my Great Grandmother,
Mathilde nee Seckelsohn was born in Altona (Hamburg) circa 1860, died in
Berlin in 1937.  I am unaware of my Great Grandfather's profession, probably
businessman.  He was also active in the Berlin Orthodox Jewish Community
(Israelitische Religionsgesaellschaft.)  I am uncertain if either ones had
any siblings, but they did have four sons (no daughters.) All served in the
German Army during World War I.  Iwan Haarburger, the oldest, was a
physician.  Gustaf Haarburger, the youngest, was a dentist.  Both died circa
1920, probably due to the influenza epidemic.  Neither was married, no
offspring.  Willi Haarburger, born circa 1891 together with his wife
Roeschen, nee Kahn, and their only child Siegmund (Born 1923 or 1925) fled
Berlin in 1938- 1939 to Holland but were caught by the invading Germans in
Amsterdam (1942?) transported to Auschwitz were they were murdered.  Manfred
Haarburger, my Grandfather, born in 1893, married my grandmother Flora
Dreyfuss (Born in Strassbourg 1896.)  My Grandfather died in New York in 1958
and my Grandmother, whom I loved dearly, in 1986, also in New York.  They had
only one son, my father, Siegmund, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1924,
emigrated to America in 1938 and presently living in Teaneck, New Jersey, USA
together with my Mother Margot. As a member of the U.S. Army during World War
II, my father spent almost a year in England, in 1944, mostly near
Cheltenham, prior ot moving to France, Luxembourg and Germany.  I was born in
New York in 1957, and now have a wife Pearl and Sons Robert and
Scott.

Unfortunately, none of the Haarburgers mentioned by you are familiar to my
father, it would seem that we are not related.  I would like to correspond
with you further.  I would like to find out more about your family.  I am
also interested in finding out about the 20 Haarburgers whom you have located
worldwide. Please e-mail me to confirm the receipt of my e-mail message.  I
would be grateful if you could also provide more information about your
family and the other Haarburgers whom you have located.  Wishing you best
regards and good health to you and your family,

Sincerely,

Alan J. Haarburger

So you can see that although we could not find a direct connection between our two families Alan was happy to receive any further news of other Haarburgers. We have continued to exchange e-mails and are currently investigating a link with a Belgium man, Max Kahn. Max has a Haarburger in his family history and Alan has a Kahn in his !

If you wish to contact Alan, please send me an E-mail and I'll get him to E-mail you back !
